Cars

Samatha and I we talking about the different kinds of cars we have had and I thought I would put together a little photo collection of what kinds of whips we have had in the past.

Samanthas Collection includes:

This pretty 1988 Chrysler Lebaron that she drove untill she was able go out for a drink! From what I hear the car had no heat in 95,96 or 97! Brrrrrrrrrr!!

In the fall of 1997 Samatha made the leap to a 1993 Honda Del Sol! Sweet!

Just over four years later Sam dropped into the very hip Jeep Wrangler soft top!

With terrible gas prices killing us in the pockebook area, we decided to make a switch in 2005 and get Samantha a brand spanking new CHEVY AVEO. Please say hello to
Rosie Red Car!

Now my 1st Car was a bit differnt from Sams.
The 1965 AMC Rambler! I know your jealous!

From the Rambler to the grocery go getting, Fully loaded Ford Taurus wagon! I can assure you all the ladies were impressed with my ride in college!

After graduation I got the greatest truck of all time. A 1997 Chevy S-10 Short bed with step sides! I can not begin to count the number of times it was burried upto the axels in mud at the Konen farm or how many differnt off road adventures this little pick up truck had but I must admit that it held up rather well for all the abuse it too. 150,000 miles over 8 years and I still miss that truck!

After my truck died in the winter of 2004 we had the great luck to recieve a wonderfully maintained 140,000 mile, 1994 For Exploder!

On Tuesday we will say good bye to the now 195,000 mile Exploder and hello to the latest addition of our car family. A sleek silver Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado 4 x 4

Baseball

As the season winds down the season has again been quite a let down. The cubbies are one of the three worst teams in all of baseball. With a payroll of 100 million dollars you would think they could field a solid team..but alas...they do not.

I predicted at the all star break the white sox would fade badly and miss the post season and that appears to be true as well.

There is alway next year!

more than 1000 fans in Baltimore staged a protest and walked out of the stadium at 508 pm last night....in protest of another loosing season..i thought the decision of 5 08 was great in honor of Brooks robinsons #5 and Cal Ripkens #8...

perhpas the cubs fans should do the same!

One baseball story really angers me and it not steriods!!! is the low down dirt bag Pete Rose... while i admire the way he played the game and always wanted to be thought of the same way when i played as a kid...the man he is has proven to be as despicable a person can be. If i were to be likened to him today..i would probably ask someone to shoot me

Fall is here

The summer is gone and now fall is upon us. Lots of good stuff happining this month. Football starts, fantasy baseball playoffs are underway too.

As for the really good stuff, Samantha has a birthday this month too! She allready has recieved her birthday present but since she is spoiled rotton i suppose i will get her something to open on her birthday too!

yesterday we decided to go a buy a new matress for the new bed we bought. who knew that stuff was so dang expensive?

If mom could work her digital camera I would put up some pictures from last weekend when sam and i went with the folks to wis. for a long weekend!

That is all for now. so in closing i would encourage Jessie to get back to work and stop playing on line!

Its the 4th of July

Let's see. The summer is half over and we have only had 1/4 of the fun we were supposed to have by now. Last weekend we went to the Lake house for some relaxation and pontoon boat riding fun.
Tonight we are going to Jay and Jess's for some illegal fireworks and drinks. Should be a good time.
I have been writing for the Beacon News and the Geneva Sun occassionaly, here is the link to the most current cheesey piece.

I -- pod, you should too

We pod. Yep, Samantha brought home an Apple Ipod on Thursday and we are now officially current with the times. I have not encouraged the purchase of the Ipod because I was of the impression that we would not really use it that much. Thursday night I put the disc in the computer and started to play a little with the new fangled device.

What I found was a little surprising. As of this morning, Sunday, I have 475 songs now on the Ipod as well as a hundred or so pictures. I really do believe we will need to purchase an additional Ipod. Samantha wanted one to take to the gym and now I want to get the accessories so I can play all of the songs in our music library on our home theater sound system and in the car.

As I hit the "shuffle" feature on the pod, I began to realize what a crazy collection of albums and songs I enjoy. I will give a short list of what is currently in rotation on our new Ipod:

  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Dr. Dre
  • Poe
  • Bela Fleck
  • The Beatles
  • Tupac
  • Miles Davis
  • grateful Dead
  • 50 Cent
  • REO Speedwagon
  • Outcast
  • Gretchen Wilson
  • Ice Cube
  • Tom Petty
  • James Brown
  • Johnny Cash
  • Elvis
  • Snoop Dog
  • Merle Haggard
  • Phish
  • Al Green
  • Motzart
  • Prince
  • Journey
  • Beastie Boys
  • Toby Keith

We have the 30Gb pod that can hold 7500 songs. I would imagine it wont take tooo long to fill that sucker up with some quality music. I do believe the trouble will be how we create playlists that we both will enjoy!

Softball Season is around the corner

2005 Plano American Legion Leauge Team

Spring is here and it's time for another softball season. We had a team meeting today for the 30 and over league I play in in Plano. Coach Rexy handed out some awards today and I won "rookie of the year". (Not to hard to do when your the only rookie on the team!) Rexy also had some nice plaques made up for a .600 club. That is for players who hit for an average at or above .600 for the 2005 season. I was happy to recieve one of those plaques today too!

The spring / summer I will be playing shortstop on the American Legion Team in Plano, Left center for a team at Turners Club in Aurora, and shortstop for a unlimited arc team through Fox Valley Park District in Aurora.

Should be another fun summer of ball. I keep telling Samantha that I am going to retire but once I am on the field I have too much fun!

Now all I have to do is convince Samantha to come and watch all the games! It would be alot eaiser if they had David Berg hot dog vendors at the games!

Saturday night Jason, Di, Jay, Jess, Samantha and I will be heading out for dinner to Meson Sabika. Post dinner plans are not confirmed but much fun is to be expected.

March will bring more good fun as I will be part of a crew heading to the mecca of colleg baskeball, Dayton, Ohio for the 1st round of the Maddness known as the NCAA tournament. Hopefully we will get to see some good teams play ball!

Upcomming Fun time

In the next couple weeks lots of fun stuff will be happining! Now that I have done our taxes online (thanks H & R Block) ! We have some good stuff planned for the next month.

February 12th we will be heading into the city for the 2006 Auto Show. I have not been in for the show in several years and Samantha was excited about going too so we have added it to our social calander.

On the 18th of February we will be celebrating
the birthdate of one of our generations greatest minds.
A three martini dinner is in order!

The 25th will be the second and last Betsinger wedding. Jill-e-bean will be hitched and take the Martin surname. Thus leaving my wife and I as the last Betsingers we know or care to know! Jill and Dennis will have their gala at the Hilton of Lisle

It is sure to be a very good time.

Happy New Year - A month late! What to do?

The new year festivites were held at Rain in Geneva. Jay & Jess and a group of others joined Samantha and I for some decent food, several drinks and some good times!

New Years resolutions are allready long gone! However I will be joining Samanthat at the gym starting on Monday Feb, 6th as I am now too fat for my own good! In addition to the gym, Samantha has strongarmed me in to visiting the Chiropractor! I have had two visits so far and actualy do feel a little better after each visit.
